How Do You Get Rid Of Crow’s Feet?

The eyes are the windows to the soul

The eyes are the focal point of the face which is why it is so important to keep them looking young and fresh.

What causes lines around the eyes?

A combination of loss of skin elasticity, collagen, and muscle movement are the main causes of lines around the eyes (or crows feet).

As we age, our skin loses elastin (its stretch) and collagen (its plumpness).  Combined with sun damage, free radical exposure and hormone changes will elevate this.  On average we blink almost 30,000 times a day. That is a lot of crinkling and movement in such a delicate area.  All this repetitive motion will contribute to wrinkles, fine lines and deepening of the crows feet.

How can frown lines be treated with Botox?

Muscle relaxants like Botox can help to slow down the muscle movement so the overlying skin doesn’t wrinkle or crease up.  Botox is delivered just underneath the skin into the underlying muscle with fine needles. The results can be seen after 3-5 days with optimum results being seen after 14 days.

Other treatments to help improve the collagen and elasticity would be medical grade skin care, skin treatments and use of fillers to help stimulate collagen,  redensifying and strengthening the skin.

Something to remember is that crows feet are a positive expression, so it is ok to have a few lines around the eyes.  Young people have crows feet, so it might be something you would like to soften and reduce, but not eliminate altogether.  Poorly treated smile lines will look unnatural when you smile leading to a poor transition between the smile lines and the cheek.
