Chiropractic is a way of diagnosing and treating a wide spectrum of medical conditions. The principle philosophy of Chiropractic is the nervous system supplies the entire body. Therefore any disruption or interference with the nerve flow of a nerve to a part of the body can affect the health of that part of the body. The central nervous system is housed within the spinal column. Therefore is an emphasis on manual treatments including spinal adjustment and other joint and soft-tissue manipulation.

What does a chiropractor do?

Although Chiropractors seems like they have a specific focus on the spine, when our Chiropractors asses patients they take the entire person into account. This can include their physical, emotional and social wellbeing.

When our osteopaths assess your health, they will look to see if the structure is working well. Chiropractors restore the body’s own natural healing mechanism by removing restrictions in spine which affects the nerve supply, without using dangerous drugs or surgery.

What are the Benefits of going to a Chiropractor?

There are a variety of techniques our Chiropractors use, depending on your condition and state of health at the time. These can include touch, physical manipulation and stretching. With these techniques our Chiropractors are able to relieve muscle tension and improve blood and nerve flow to restore health in the affected tissues.

Where suitable our Chiropractors will also take a truly holistic approach and offer advice on diet, exercise and lifestyle, and rehabilitation programmes that involve exercises to do in your own time.

When should I see a chiropractor?

Your First Visit

At your first appointment a full and detailed medical case history will be taken. This is followed by an examination, for which you may be asked to remove some clothing and carry out some simple movements. At this point some clinical tests may also be carried out. Once a diagnosis is made, treatment may begin. Treatment consists of a range of techniques, including soft tissue massage, gentle manipulation and articulation to free joints that are not moving properly. First appointment will take approximately 45-60 minutes. Any subsequent appointments are approximately 20 minutes
